Mr Macaroni Claps Back With Receipts

Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has sparked a fresh wave of political conversation online. The skitmaker took aim at President Bola Tinubu by digging up some of his old tweets from 2014 – tweets originally aimed at then-President Goodluck Jonathan.

Back in 2014, Tinubu, who was a leading opposition figure under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was critical of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President Jonathan. He frequently tweeted about national insecurity, lack of trust in leadership, and general frustration with government performance.

In a bold move, Mr Macaroni flipped those same tweets — only this time replacing PDP and Jonathan’s names with APC and Tinubu’s. His goal? To show that many of the issues Tinubu once criticized still exist, or have even worsened, under his own leadership.

For example, Tinubu had tweeted on September 24, 2014: “The entire nation has lost its trust in the ruling party, PDP. It is a challenging time and we have to be very careful.” Mr Macaroni reposted it, switching names: “The entire nation has lost its trust in the ruling party, APC. It is a challenging time and we have to be very careful.”

He didn’t stop there. Another old tweet by Tinubu condemned the slaughter of Christian worshippers and questioned Jonathan’s ability to protect Nigerians. Mr Macaroni echoed it word-for-word, only replacing the president’s name: “It calls to question the competence of Tinubu to protect Nigerians.”

In one more pointed response, Tinubu’s 2014 post read: “Nigeria’s security situation is precarious, Nigerians are tired of excuses and explanations. They want protection for their lives and property.” Mr Macaroni hit the same tone, reposting it with no edits except for the implied shift in target.
