The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced that MTN and Globacom have agreed to fix their issues in 21 days.
On January 8, 2024, the NCC warned that MTN could start disconnecting Globacom on January 18, 2024, due to a long-standing debt dispute.
In a statement, the NCC said it understands how this could affect customers. They are working with both companies to find a solution that protects consumers and keeps the telecom network running smoothly.
Now, both companies have agreed to resolve their problems. Because of this, the NCC has paused the planned disconnection for 21 days starting from January 17, 2024.
The NCC expects MTN and Globacom to settle their issues during this time. They emphasized that all telecom companies must pay their debts to comply with regulations.
The NCC reminded mobile network operators to follow the rules in their licenses, especially regarding interconnection agreements.
