Ahmed Musa has emphasized the importance of securing a win against Rwanda in Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, calling it a crucial turning point for the team.
The Super Eagles are still searching for their first victory in the qualifiers, having drawn three matches and lost one in their four Group C fixtures. Musa, speaking ahead of Kano Pillars’ league clash with Kwara United in Ilorin, stressed that a win in Kigali is non-negotiable.
“The important game is Rwanda,” the former Leicester City star told reporters. “If we can get the three points from that match, it’s going to be a turning point for us. But it is not just a job for the Super Eagles alone—every Nigerian must be involved because we need their support.”
Nigeria will take on the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on March 21, with Coach Éric Chelle’s side desperate for a win to revive their World Cup qualification hopes.
The Super Eagles missed out on the last World Cup, and Musa admitted they cannot afford another setback. “The Super Eagles are in a very difficult situation right now, but we believe in ourselves that we can still scale through,” he added.
“Super Eagles cannot be absent from the 2026 World Cup. It is going to be a big disaster for Nigerian players not to be at the World Cup.”
