The National Association of Seadogs – Pyrates Confraternity (NAS PC), Oxbow Marino Deck, has urged the Federal and Bayelsa State governments to implement robust health policies to curb high maternal and infant mortality rates in Nigeria.
During an outreach in Yenagoa to mark the 2025 World Health Day with the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” the group, in partnership with medical professionals from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, stressed the need for free antenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women.
NAS PC leader, Engr. Adogbeji Egbonoje, highlighted the importance of early healthcare interventions in preventing childhood illnesses and ensuring healthier futures for mothers and babies. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to humanistic ideals and improving community health.
The outreach featured discussions on best practices for maternal and child healthcare, emphasizing nutrition, immunization, and strategies to reduce pregnancy-related complications.
