The Nasarawa State College of Education (CoE), Akwanga, has received a significant donation of ICT gadgets from the National Communications Commission (NCC), through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in a move aimed at enhancing digital learning and teaching infrastructure.
Governor Abdullahi Sule made this known during a briefing with members of the State Executive Council (SEC) in Lafia yesterday. He highlighted that this intervention is part of ongoing efforts to support educational institutions across the state.
“The College of Education in Akwanga is benefiting from this initiative with the installation of two servers, which will significantly enhance their ICT capacity. This is similar to the support we received for Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia,” Governor Sule said.
He expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Ali Pantami, the NCC, and NITDA for their continued support in advancing education through digital innovation.
In related developments, the governor announced that the state government will take over the payment of staff salaries at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), starting this month, in response to key demands from the local Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to ensure the resumption of academic activities.
“We are confident in our financial capacity to begin this payment immediately. By Thursday or Friday, we expect the process to be finalized, paving the way for academic activities to resume,” Governor Sule added.
The combined efforts in digital infrastructure and staff welfare underscore the state’s commitment to advancing education and technology.
