A female officer of the Nigerian Navy, along with two other individuals, has been abducted by gunmen in the Mpape area of Abuja. The incident occurred on Friday night, heightening concerns over rising insecurity in the nation’s capital.
According to a military source, the victims were taken from their residence, and the kidnappers have since contacted their families, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
“Three individuals were abducted on Friday night in the Mpape area, including a DHQ official, Lt… The kidnappers have contacted their families and are insisting on a N100 million ransom,” the source told Pulsewireng on condition of anonymity.
Efforts to get an official response from the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful, as they had not responded to inquiries at the time of filing this report.
The abduction has further raised concerns over the worsening security situation in Abuja, where incidents of kidnappings and violent crimes have become more frequent.
Residents and security analysts have called on the government to take urgent steps to address the growing threats and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
