The Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) have encouraged Nigerian women to use the digital economy to create jobs, work from home, and build wealth.
This message was shared at a symposium organized to mark International Women’s Day, with the theme Digit ALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality, #EmbraceEquity, in Abuja.
Shehu Abdulkadir, the Managing Director of AEA, explained that the agency has been offering mentorship and support to help women succeed in business and become employers of labor.
“We’re here to teach women how to use the digital economy to create jobs, work from home, and generate income,” Abdulkadir said.
Freda Bruce-Bennett, Head of the Digital Skills and Services Unit at NCC, pointed out that while the digital economy offers immense opportunities, it is mostly dominated by men. She encouraged women to get involved and take advantage of the growth in this space.
The symposium aimed to provide women with the skills needed to succeed in the digital economy and improve their financial independence.
