NCC, NITDA Lead Cybersecurity Efforts in Nigeria

 

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) are working together to secure Nigeria’s cyberspace and protect its digital economy. Speaking at the Cyber Secure Conference 2022, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, emphasized that a secure cyberspace is critical for Nigeria’s growth.

Pantami, represented by NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, highlighted the creation of the Computer Emergency Readiness and Response Team (CERRT) by NCC and NITDA. This team monitors online threats and provides quick responses to cyberattacks.

He also praised the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) for raising awareness about cyber risks, noting that most breaches are caused by human error. Pantami reaffirmed the government’s goal to achieve 95% digital literacy by 2030, ensuring a safer online environment for all Nigerians.
