NCC Unveils Final Information Memorandum for 3.5GHz Spectrum Auction

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially released the final version of the Information Memorandum (IM) to guide the upcoming auction of the remaining 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum lots for the deployment of Fifth Generation (5G) services in Nigeria.

In a statement issued over the weekend, Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs at the NCC, confirmed that the Commission had previously published a draft IM and invited stakeholder feedback to refine and enhance the document. The feedback from various industry players was subsequently gathered and discussed during a Stakeholder Engagement forum held on November 15, 2022, at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.

The final IM, which now reflects stakeholders’ contributions, is available for public viewing on the NCC’s website. Stakeholders are encouraged to visit the Commission’s website (www.ncc.gov.ng) to study the document, which will serve as a critical guide for the auction process.

Muoka further noted that the Commission had considered all submitted comments, ensuring the final IM is comprehensive and aligned with industry expectations. Stakeholders are urged to review the final IM in detail, as it will play a crucial role in shaping the upcoming auction for the 3.5GHz spectrum band. The final IM can be accessed directly through the link provided in the Commission’s public notice.

With this step, the NCC continues its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, setting the stage for a smooth and well-regulated auction process that will facilitate the roll-out of 5G services across Nigeria.
