NCF U-17 Cricket Championship Concludes Nationwide

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) National Under-17 Cricket Championship for boys and girls, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), has successfully concluded across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

This sixth edition saw record participation, with 36 states competing, highlighting Nigeria’s growing cricket talent and the impact of grassroots development efforts. Notably, Yobe and Adamawa states made remarkable progress despite past security challenges.

In the South West, Lagos State dominated, winning gold in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. Oyo and Ogun finished as first and second runners-up, while in the girls’ category, Oyo and Ogun swapped positions.

Imo State continued its dominance in the South East boys’ category, ahead of Anambra and Ebonyi. In the girls’ category, Ebonyi remained unbeaten, securing first place, followed by Anambra and Abia.

The tournament’s expansion and increasing competitiveness signal a bright future for cricket in Nigeria, with more young players emerging nationwide.

With the championship concluded, attention now shifts to further developing these young talents and preparing them for higher levels of competition.
