New Accountant-General Vows Fairness, No Victimization

Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has pledged to uphold equity and fairness in his administration, assuring that no staff member will be victimized to please government executives.

Speaking during his official resumption at the Treasury House, Ogunjimi emphasized his commitment to making the Office of the Accountant General a model of integrity among government institutions. He urged staff to embrace unity and professionalism, vowing to be a listening leader who prioritizes fairness and due process.

Addressing past controversies surrounding his appointment, Ogunjimi dismissed factionalism, urging employees to move forward for the collective good of Nigeria. “The past is in the past. Let us work, work, work,” he declared to a cheering crowd.

He further criticized the trend of government executives arbitrarily removing directors based on personal dislikes, promising, “I will not be that kind of leader.” He insisted that every decision under his watch would be based on merit and justice, not favoritism.

Ogunjimi also vowed to change public perception of the nation’s treasury, acknowledging the challenges of corruption and mismanagement that have plagued the office. He reassured staff that he would personally intervene in cases of unfair dismissal or victimization.
