New Era for Super Eagles

Nigeria’s new Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has promised to deliver results. He was unveiled on Monday at the MKO Abia National Stadium in Abuja.

Chelle, who’s from Mali and France, said he understands how much Nigerians love football and how much they expect from the team. “Football is all about scoring goals. I’m ready to work,” he said.

He also shared his coaching philosophy, which includes being disciplined, taking risks, and building a strong bond with the players. “Scoring goals is a mindset. We need to play aggressively and with intensity. I’ll be strict, but I’ll also be like a big brother to the players,” he explained.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Ibrahim Gusau, said Chelle was chosen because of his experience and knowledge of African football. “We know Nigerians are passionate about football, and we’ve considered their opinions. Eric is here to deliver results,” Gusau said.

Gusau also said Chelle will travel to Ikenne to supervise the training of the CHAN Eagles and identify players who can join the Super Eagles.

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, expressed confidence in Chelle’s abilities. “We’re heading into World Cup qualifiers, and Eric is ready for the challenge. He understands African football and is motivated to perform,” Dikko said.

Chelle has a two-year contract, which can be extended by a year if he qualifies Nigeria for the 2026 World Cup.
