NGOs Train Women in Abuja for Financial Independence

In a push to empower women at the grassroots level, Tasth Foundation, in partnership with the Aisha Achimugu Foundation and the Rachel Owan Enoh Empowerment & Care Foundation, has trained women in Lugbe, Abuja, in various vocational skills. These include soap and Vaseline making, lip gloss production, Ankara bag and shoe making, and makeup artistry.

The initiative aims to help women achieve financial stability and self-sufficiency. Speaking at the event, Rachel Owan Enoh, CEO of her foundation, highlighted the importance of women in economic development. “When you empower a woman, you uplift entire families, communities, and society at large,” she stated.

Enoh acknowledged the financial struggles many women face, particularly those who depend solely on their spouses. She emphasized that the program was designed to equip them with practical skills to improve their financial situation.

She also noted the financial difficulties of running an NGO, revealing that her foundation has been self-funded for 17 years. Despite this, they targeted 50 women for training and pledged to track their progress over the next three months.

To ensure participants can start their businesses immediately, the organizers committed to providing start-up kits and financial support. “We will provide materials to help them take off,” Enoh explained.

Encouraging the women to take the training seriously, she stressed that financial stability is essential for a better future. “They need to understand that they are here to build a future for themselves, not just to pass time,” she concluded.
