The Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) has emphasized the vital role of agribusiness in driving economic growth and ensuring food security across the country.
Speaking at the Presidential Roundtable on Agribusiness in Abuja, NABG President Arch Kabir Ibrahim highlighted the sector’s broad impact, covering agricultural production, processing, distribution, and related services.
Ibrahim noted that Nigeria’s shift from subsistence farming to agribusiness was a strategic move to create wealth and improve food production efficiency.
He recalled a key moment in 2012 when a visiting minister from Accra advocated for farming as a profitable business rather than a survival activity.
The NABG president stressed that for Nigeria to achieve sustainable agriculture, policies must support farmers in adopting modern practices and accessing necessary resources.
The roundtable discussion reinforced the need for long-term strategies to strengthen agribusiness and transform the sector into a pillar of national development.
