Nigeria, Saint Kitts to Boost Economic Ties

President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to strengthen Nigeria’s economic partnership with Saint Kitts and Nevis, focusing on trade, energy, and agriculture.

During a meeting in Abuja with Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Michael Drew, Tinubu emphasized the need to deepen Africa-Caribbean relations and explore mutual opportunities for growth. He described the partnership as a step toward achieving shared economic prosperity.

Prime Minister Drew echoed this sentiment, highlighting Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa. He stressed the importance of building stronger ties between the Caribbean and the continent, referring to Africa as the “motherland.”

Key areas of collaboration include agriculture, energy, logistics, and transport, with food security and sustainable energy among the top priorities. Drew noted that discussions are underway with Nigerian firms to explore investment opportunities in Saint Kitts and Nevis.

He added that both nations are also considering cooperation in education and trade to foster long-term economic benefits.

The meeting, held alongside an investment summit in Abuja, marks a significant move toward broader Africa-Caribbean cooperation, which both leaders believe could serve as a model for future partnerships.
