Nigeria, Sweden Strengthen Ties on Trade, Development

Vice President Shettima assured that Nigeria would remain a reliable ally to Sweden, emphasizing a shared vision of progress. “Our partnership is anchored in innovation, powered by people, and guided by our determination to uplift communities and secure prosperity for generations to come,” he stated.

Crown Princess Victoria is on a three-day official visit to Nigeria aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between both nations. The visit follows high-level engagements last year when Shettima traveled to Stockholm on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a new phase in Nigeria-Sweden relations.

Shettima described the Princess’s visit as a step towards stronger institutional collaboration and increased cultural exchanges. “This moment opens the door to deeper institutional ties, stimulates business-to-business collaboration, and fosters greater cultural exchange,” he said. He also highlighted Sweden’s expertise in renewable energy, precision agriculture, and healthcare innovation as key areas of interest for Nigeria.

Reflecting on his visit to Sweden, Shettima noted that discussions with Swedish leaders and business executives had already led to tangible outcomes. “Our meetings in Sweden last year were not ceremonial; they were catalytic. They opened doors to strategic collaborations and renewed our commitment to making Nigeria a fertile ground for innovation and investment,” he added.

With both countries eager to expand their partnership, the visit sets the stage for new agreements that could drive economic growth and technological advancement. Officials from both nations are expected to build on the discussions in the coming months.
