The Nigerian military delegation to the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver, Canada, has returned home with six medals, despite visa denials preventing most of the contingent from attending.
The athletes, all military personnel injured in the line of duty, showcased resilience and determination on the global stage.
On their return to Nigeria, the team was welcomed at Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja on Wednesday by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and other top military officials.
The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick service members, both active and retired, aimed at promoting rehabilitation through sports.
Despite the visa challenges, the Nigerian delegation’s success highlighted their perseverance and skill in the competition.
Military officials praised the athletes for their achievements, emphasizing the importance of supporting wounded soldiers in their recovery and reintegration.
