NOSA Calls for Unity Behind New Alaafin

The National Old Student Association, Alaafin High School, Oyo (NOSA-AHSO), has urged the Oyomesi and all sons and daughters of Oyo Town to unite in support of the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I. The association’s president, Engr. Muideen Aruna, congratulated the monarch on his ascension and emphasized the need for collective support for the new king.

Alaafin Owoade was officially presented to the public on Saturday, April 5, 2025, during a well-attended coronation ceremony officiated by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. Engr. Aruna described the monarch’s coronation as a significant moment in Yoruba history, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the kingdom.

In his statement, Aruna highlighted that the coronation symbolized not just continuity but a renewed commitment to preserving Yoruba heritage, unity, and progress. He emphasized that the monarch’s leadership is a divine affirmation of his role as the custodian of Yoruba culture and values, which the NOSA-AHSO proudly acknowledges.

The association called on the Oyomesi, the people of Yorubaland, and the sons and daughters of Oyo to rally behind Oba Owoade as he embarks on his reign. Aruna expressed confidence that the new king’s wisdom and integrity will guide him in advancing education, cultural preservation, and socioeconomic development throughout the Oyo communities.

NOSA-AHSO also urged various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, government officials, and citizens, to support the new Alaafin’s vision for peace, inclusivity, and innovation in Oyo and Yorubaland. The association recognized the challenges faced by leaders of such a historically significant kingdom but expressed confidence in Oba Owoade’s ability to steer the throne to greater heights.

The alumni association pledged its full support for initiatives that empower youth, promote education, and preserve cultural heritage. “The Alaafin is not just a king; he is the heartbeat of our heritage. Let us walk hand-in-hand with Oba Owoade to ensure his reign becomes a golden era for Oyo and Yorubaland,” Aruna concluded.
