Nottingham Forest Urged to Handle Awoniyi’s Injury with Caution

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has emphasized the need for caution in handling Taiwo Awoniyi’s recovery after the striker suffered a broken nose during their FA Cup victory over Exeter.

Awoniyi, who scored Forest’s second goal in the match, was forced off before halftime and replaced by Chris Wood. The Nigerian forward is now under medical supervision as the club follows concussion protocols.

Speaking at a press conference, Santo confirmed that Awoniyi is in pain but remains in good spirits. However, he stressed the importance of closely monitoring the player’s condition before making any decisions about his availability for the upcoming Premier League clash with Fulham.

“He broke his nose, so he is in pain and is with the medical department. We are waiting for the right protocols to be followed,” Santo said. “It is a concussion, so we have to be really careful. He looks okay—he’s smiling, but he’s in pain.”

The manager added that the team would take at least two or three days to assess Awoniyi’s condition before determining whether he can return to action.

With Forest preparing for a crucial Premier League fixture, the club will prioritize Awoniyi’s health, ensuring he is fully fit before making a comeback.
