NSA Ribadu Hands Over Rescued Kidnap Victims to Families

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Thursday, reunited Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), Ambassador Gideon Yohanna, and 17 other kidnap victims with their families in Abuja.

Brig.-Gen. Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was abducted on February 5, 2025, in Katsina State alongside nine others. Ambassador Yohanna, Nigeria’s former Deputy Chief of Mission to South Africa, was kidnapped in January in Kaduna State.

During the handover ceremony at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Ribadu credited the successful rescues to the military and other security agencies.

“We have done a couple of handovers in the past due to the work of our armed forces and security services. Now we have done it again. This time, it involves important personalities who served this country well,” he said.

He reassured Nigerians that efforts to rescue kidnap victims remain a top priority, stating, “This is an ongoing and continuous effort. We will go after the bad ones. These people have been rescued, but those responsible for this evil will pay for it dearly.”

Ribadu also acknowledged the sacrifices made by security personnel, noting, “Many of our forces have paid the supreme price. May their souls rest in peace. We will not stop until we see the end of this.”
