NSCDC Arrests Five Over School, Power Installation Vandalism in Kano

Kano, Nigeria – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested five suspects for vandalizing and stealing properties from two secondary schools and a power installation in the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were linked to the looting of Government Secondary School, Unguwar Rimi, and Government Secondary School, Unguwa Uku, both in Tarauni Local Government Area.

Among those apprehended are Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), and Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20), all residents of Unguwar Rimi in Kumbotso Local Government Area, along with Adamu Murtala (20) from Unguwa Uku in Tarauni.

The stolen items include roofing sheets, iron rods, iron buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, seven windows, and two ceiling fans, as well as essential school documents and learning materials. The NSCDC has also detained a receiver who allegedly purchased the stolen goods.

In a separate incident, Alasan Inusa (17), from Gidan Tela in PRP, Dambatta Local Government Area, was arrested for allegedly vandalizing an electric power installation. Recovered items include six insulators, a three-meter aluminium cable, and various nuts and brass components.

SC Abdullahi confirmed that investigations have been concluded, and the suspects will soon be charged in court.
