The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has assured Nigerians of a peaceful and secure Eid-al-Fitr celebration. He announced the deployment of personnel nationwide to maintain public safety and prevent disruptions.
In a statement by the Corps’ national spokesman, CSC Afolabi Babawale, Dr. Audi emphasized the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and tackling security threats. He condemned recent pipeline attacks, warning that such acts would not be tolerated.
The NSCDC has been working closely with the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Police to combat crime. A recent joint operation in Rivers State successfully thwarted an attempt to sabotage oil installations.
Dr. Audi urged the public to support security efforts by providing credible information to help prevent attacks on vital infrastructure. He assured Nigerians that the Corps would uphold professionalism in executing its duties.
He highlighted that officers from specialized units, including SWAT, Special Intelligence Squads, and Female Special Forces, had been mobilized for swift response. Security personnel will focus on safeguarding oil pipelines, power installations, and other key assets.
With these extensive security measures, the NSCDC is confident that Nigerians will experience a peaceful and incident-free Eid-al-Fitr celebration.
