Osun Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew

Senator Ademola Adeleke, has extended the curfew in Ilobu, Ifon Orolu, and Erin Osun communities to a full 24 hours following an escalation in violence over land disputes. The decision comes after reports of ongoing gunfire and destruction despite the previous 6 pm to 6 am curfew.

Security agencies, including the military, police, NSCDC, and Amotekun, have been ordered to enforce the curfew strictly. The governor expressed disappointment over the continued violence and instructed law enforcement to restore peace immediately.

Meanwhile, Ilobu community leaders have appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, and the DSS to intervene. They claim their community has faced relentless attacks from neighboring Ifon-Osun and Erin-Osun, resulting in deaths, injuries, and destruction worth over ₦2 billion.

Pastor Olufemi Salako, National President of the Ilobu Descendant Union (IDU), described the attacks as a coordinated effort to wipe out Ilobu. “We woke up to sporadic gunfire. Homes, markets, and businesses were destroyed. Women, children, and the elderly have been displaced,” he stated.

He further alleged that despite multiple calls for help, security forces failed to respond on time, allowing the violence to continue unchecked for over 15 hours. According to him, this marks the eighth major attack on the community in the last 18 months, with at least 30 lives lost.

Salako called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide urgent relief for affected families and businesses. Residents now await government intervention as fear and uncertainty grip the area.
