By Adegboyega Oyetola, has appointed Dr. Bolaji Akinola as his Adviser on Media and Communications.
Akinola, a veteran maritime and corporate communications expert with over 25 years of industry experience, is widely respected for his contributions to shipping development, maritime security, and blue economy discourse in Nigeria.
Currently the CEO of Ships & Ports Communication Company, Akinola holds a Doctorate in Media and Communications from Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, an MBA from Lagos Business School, and a Master’s in Transport Management from LAUTECH.
He is a Fellow of both the Nigerian Institute of Shipping and the Chartered Institute of Shipping of Nigeria, and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (UK), and the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria.
In his new role, Akinola will guide the Ministry’s media strategy, oversee public communications, and ensure effective dissemination of the Ministry’s policies and programmes.
Reacting to his appointment, Dr. Akinola said:
“I am deeply honoured and humbled by the confidence reposed in me by the Minister. The Marine and Blue Economy is a vital frontier for Nigeria’s economic diversification and growth. I look forward to contributing my quota to this important national assignment.”
The appointment reflects Minister Oyetola’s commitment to enhancing the Ministry’s communication framework and public engagement strategy in the evolving marine and blue economy space.
