Pastor Banished Over Homosexuality Allegations

The Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community in Delta State has issued a strong warning to a 33-year-old pastor, Onome Imoniruvwe, demanding that he stay away from their community and surrounding areas. This directive comes in response to serious allegations of homosexual acts and the sexual abuse of male teenagers.

In a public notice released on April 10, 2025, key leaders of the Otovwodo Agbassa community formally announced their decision. The notice was jointly signed by the traditional prime minister (Oghwuvwie), Hon. Jerry Ope Osioh; the community spokesman, Obabokor Otota; and the secretary, Jeremiah Erhumejih Akarohor. These leaders described the pastor’s alleged actions as deeply offensive, inhuman, and utterly abominable to their community.

Onome Imoniruvwe, who hails from Kokori in the Ethiope East local government area of Delta State, has been accused of sexually abusing several male teenagers within the Agbassa community, with the victims reportedly being between the ages of 14 and 16. As a result of these allegations, the community has declared Imoniruvwe persona non grata, meaning he is no longer welcome in the area.

The community leaders emphasized the severity of the accusations, stating, “It is a grave violation of the cultural, religious and moral values of the community. The recent case involved a 15-year-old boy. On investigation, the Community discovered that this is what he did at Edukugho in Iyara axis; that is why he was driven from there.” This suggests that similar allegations had led to his expulsion from another community previously.

The public notice explicitly stated the community’s stance: “This is to inform the general populace in Otovwodo Agbassa Community and environs in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State that there is a man in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Otovwodo Agbassa who practices gay; he uses his manhood to sleep with male children through their anus.” The leaders made it clear that “Otovwodo Agbassa Community frowns on this inhuman unscrupulous act because it is an abominable act to the (A) Community, (B) The Church (Household of God) and (C) To humanity in general.”

Concluding their statement, the community leaders firmly declared, “For the aforementioned purpose above, Onome Imoniruvwe (popularly known as Pastor Homo) should not be seen anywhere near Otovwodo Agbassa Community and Environs, Henceforth.” The fact that Imoniruvwe, also known as “Pastor Homo,” had reportedly been expelled from Edukugho for similar behavior further underscores the seriousness of the community’s actions and their determination to protect their youth and uphold their values.
