PDP Mourns Edwin Clark, Calls It National Loss

Chief Edwin Clark, describing his death as a great national loss. Clark, a nationalist, elder statesman, and former Federal Commissioner of Information, was a prominent advocate for social justice and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).

In a statement, the PDP hailed Clark as a bold lawyer, forthright politician, and educationist who dedicated his life to the fight for justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria. The party acknowledged his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people and his fearless stance on national issues.

The PDP’s national publicity secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, highlighted Clark’s role in championing true federalism, resource control, transparency in governance, and prudent management of national resources. According to Ologunagba, these principles were essential for fostering unity, stability, and development in Nigeria’s multi-ethnic society.

Clark’s contributions to national reforms spanned decades, from his early days as an independence agitator and student activist to his roles as a commissioner, senator, and national party executive. His dedication to the betterment of Nigeria was evident throughout his career.

“Through the years, Chief Clark remained at the forefront of national reforms, demonstrating that true leadership is about the pursuit of the greater good,” Ologunagba stated.
