Peter Obi Joins TikTok to Connect with Nigerians

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has officially joined TikTok to engage with Nigerians online. The announcement was made through his X (formerly Twitter) account, sharing a link to his new TikTok page.

TikTok, a popular video-centric social media platform, has become a key space for public figures to interact with their supporters. Since launching his page @mr.peter.obi, Obi has already gathered over 8,000 followers and 4,000 likes.

In his first video, the former Anambra State governor confirmed that the account is his only official TikTok profile. He invited followers to join him in his mission to build a better Nigeria, emphasizing unity and progress.

“This is my official and only TikTok page. Kindly join me towards building a new Nigeria that is possible,” Obi stated in the video.

Interestingly, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, also joined TikTok just four days earlier. Now a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), El-Rufai uses the platform to discuss Nigerian politics and promote his new party.

As more Nigerian politicians explore TikTok, the platform is proving to be a dynamic space for political discourse, expanding beyond entertainment to influence public opinion.
