Plateau State Procures 6,300 Tons of Fertilizer for 2025 Farming Season

The Plateau State government has approved the procurement of 6,300 tons of assorted fertilizer to support farmers ahead of the 2025 farming season. The initiative aims to enhance food security and boost agricultural productivity in the state.

State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Ramnap, disclosed this during a radio interview on Peace FM 90.5. She emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture has launched a database to register farmers, ensuring that only those officially captured will receive subsidized farming inputs and fertilizers.

“The essence of this initiative is to ensure that Plateau State farmers have direct access to subsidized fertilizers. They will no longer have to purchase through third parties, which will help curb corruption and prevent diversion,” she stated.

Ramnap described the fertilizer distribution as a key step toward economic recovery in the state. In addition, she highlighted ongoing infrastructural development projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads across Plateau’s three senatorial zones.

Among the projects, she mentioned the 55.23 km road construction in Rukuba, Miango, Farin Lamba, Busabuji, and Kent Academy and the Jibam-Dokang-Kasuwan Baap Road project, where a critical bridge is being expanded to ease traffic congestion.
