The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found on the Gwagwa-Idu rail line in Abuja. Authorities suspect she was involved in a fatal train accident.
The unidentified woman’s remains were discovered on March 24, raising questions about the circumstances that led to her tragic death. The police have since commenced inquiries to determine what happened.
Confirming the incident, FCT police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated, “The command is investigating a fatal train accident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line.”
She explained that police officers responded to a distress call around 11:00 a.m. near Zeberced Company in Idu. Upon arrival, they found the woman’s disfigured body, which was later transported to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors confirmed her death. Efforts are ongoing to identify her and locate her relatives.
Meanwhile, the FCT Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, has urged residents to exercise caution around railway lines and follow safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
The police are calling on anyone with useful information to come forward and contact them via their emergency helplines.
