President Bola Tinubu has expressed his sadness over the death of Bauchi-based Islamic scholar, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz Dutsen Tanshi, who passed away late Thursday at the age of 68.
In a statement released on Friday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dr. Abdulaziz as a revered cleric who had a significant impact on shaping the lives of millions of Muslim youths and followers through his teachings on the principles of Islam.
The President particularly praised Dr. Abdulaziz for his role in combating violent extremism, especially during the early stages of the Boko Haram conflict.
“His trenchant voice, calling for moral rectitude and probity, will be greatly missed by the Muslim faithful,” Tinubu said in his statement.
While praying for the peace of Dr. Abdulaziz’s soul, President Tinubu urged the family, friends, and followers of the late cleric to find comfort in the positive legacy he left behind.
