Ramadan Boosts Beverage Sales Nationwide

Ramadan Boosts Beverage Sales Nationwide

During Ramadan, Nigeria has experienced a major spike in beverage sales, with vendors across the country recording impressive profits. The surge comes as families and communities gather daily to break their fast at Iftar, fueling a high demand for refreshing drinks.

From fruit juices to chocolate drinks and traditional favorites like Zobo and Kunu, beverage sellers in cities and towns have capitalized on the seasonal rush. Markets and mosque surroundings have become hotspots for these sales, with vendors setting up shop to meet the evening cravings of fasting Muslims.

For many, the increased demand has become an annual blessing. Johnson Tunmise, a distributor at Oshodi, said: “Ramadan period is usually a busy time for me. We stock up on all popular drinks because people want them fresh and ready for Iftar.”

The trend also highlights acts of kindness during Ramadan. Aliyu Baba recalled how a local woman, Mama Umi, used to distribute free beverages at Iftar near the mosque: “I will miss her this year since she relocated to Kano.”

For sellers like Fashola, who moves from spot to spot, Ramadan evenings are prime business hours. “That moment right before they break their fast—that’s when we sell the most,” he explained.

With Ramadan blending business and spirituality, the beverage trade becomes more than profit—it’s part of the communal rhythm of the holy month. As fasting continues, vendors are prepared for more brisk sales until Eid marks the end of the season.
