Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has been elected as a member of the Steering Committee of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
Her election took place during the 29th Ordinary General Assembly of OAFLAD, held alongside the 38th African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa.
According to her media aide, Busola Kukuyi, Mrs. Tinubu will represent West Africa on the eight-member committee, alongside Sierra Leone’s First Lady, who was also elected as the new President of the organization.
Other elected members include the First Ladies of Angola (Vice President), Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo.
As a Steering Committee member, Mrs. Tinubu will play a key role in shaping OAFLAD’s policies and initiatives over the next two years.
Her appointment highlights Nigeria’s growing influence in regional development efforts, particularly in issues affecting women, children, and healthcare across Africa.
