Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has dismissed recent reports suggesting shifts in his political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, labeling them as fabrications and falsehoods.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Yusuph Olaniyonu of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Media Office, Saraki urged his associates, supporters, and the public to ignore the claims published in a national newspaper. The report alleged that Saraki’s unnamed associates had provided insights into his political stance during a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Saraki Media Office strongly condemned the manipulations allegedly orchestrated by opposition groups in Kwara State, accusing them of fabricating quotes and designing misleading graphics to circulate online.
“The reporter of the story relied on unnamed sources and faceless individuals. He also sought opinions from people without fully disclosing the details of the story he was writing,” the statement read.
The statement further suggested that the report stemmed from a misinterpretation of Saraki’s silence on coalition talks among politicians, emphasizing that his reserved stance has been misconstrued as a political maneuver.
“Anyone familiar with Dr. Saraki knows he does not speak carelessly in ways that expose him to ridicule. The views in that news story and the manipulated graphics circulating online do not represent his position,” the statement concluded.
