Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has warmly welcomed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai into the party.
El-Rufai, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced his defection to the SDP on Monday, citing a growing misalignment between his values and the APC’s direction.
Reacting via his verified X handle (@Pres_Adebayo), Adebayo described El-Rufai as a hardworking and strategic leader whose entry strengthens the SDP’s mission to combat poverty and insecurity caused by APC governance.
“With the hardworking and sagacious Mallam joining our ranks, an avid worker for the people has been enlisted in our forces against poverty and insecurity,” Adebayo stated.
He emphasized that 2027 presents an opportunity to rescue Nigerians from years of bad governance under the APC and PDP, urging all true democrats to rally behind the SDP for a fresh political direction.
Adebayo assured Nigerians that the SDP is committed to ethical leadership, promising a return to governance based on law, constitutional principles, and national interest rather than personal ambition or financial influence.
“Good politics begets good governance. Let no one sit on the fence any further. There is no time to waste. Join us on the march again. God bless Nigeria,” he declared.
