Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday in the Karu area of Abuja, claiming multiple lives and leaving many injured.
In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the disaster. He described the incident as a devastating tragedy and assured the victims that the Federal Government stands with them.
“My deepest condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. No words can adequately express the sorrow we feel for your loss. The Federal Government stands with you in this difficult time,” Shettima stated.
He also pledged full government support for those receiving treatment, wishing them a swift and complete recovery. Shettima commended the prompt response of emergency services, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, Red Cross, Fire Service, and security agencies, for their efforts in rescuing victims and providing immediate medical assistance.
The Vice President emphasized the urgent need for stricter road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and instructed security agencies to intensify traffic monitoring at key entry and exit points in the capital city.
Tinubu also extended his condolences to the bereaved families, directed that the injured receive priority medical care, and prayed for the departed souls, asking for divine comfort for those affected.
