Sokoto State Government Digitalises Wamakko Hospital

The Sokoto State government is taking steps to digitalise Wamakko Orthopaedic Hospital to ensure proper record keeping and improve service delivery.

Dr. Faruku Umar Abubakar Wurno, the state’s health commissioner, made this announcement during an inspection visit to the hospital. He noted that proper records of patient visits and hospital activities had been lacking and that the new digital system would address this issue.

During his visit, Dr. Wurno also issued a one-month ultimatum to the hospital’s management to begin using the renovated amenity and main theatre room, which had been abandoned for over ten years.

He further instructed the director of medical services to send bioengineers to take inventory of all hospital equipment to ensure they are properly accounted for.

The commissioner also addressed concerns about staff punctuality, stressing that the ministry would not tolerate any laxity or absenteeism, urging the hospital staff to show improved commitment to their duties.

In response, Dr. Abdulkadir Jelani Mu’azu, the hospital’s chief medical director, assured the commissioner that all of his concerns would be thoroughly investigated and addressed.
