Stakeholders to Discuss Satellite Internet Disruption at Telecom Forum

Key players in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry are preparing for the Telecoms Sector Sustainability Forum (TSSF 3.0) to discuss the challenges and opportunities posed by satellite broadband.

The forum will feature representatives from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Infrastructure and Tower Companies, Network Operators, industry associations, and other telecom stakeholders. The main topic will be the impact of satellite broadband, particularly with the rise of services like Starlink, in a rapidly changing tech landscape.

The event, organized by Business Remarks, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 30, 2023, in Lagos. The theme for the forum is “Starlink: A Threat or Prospect for the Future of Nigeria’s ISPs, Infraco, and MNOs.”

Bukola Olanrewaju, the convener and managing editor of Business Remarks, explained that recent research has highlighted the need for operators to evolve their business models to keep up with technological advancements. He pointed out that while technology can lead to growth, it can also cause businesses to decline if not properly managed. He also noted that Nigeria’s digital economy is growing rapidly, with the telecom sector driving much of this progress.
