Suspended Senator Defies Kogi Gathering Ban

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan defied the Kogi State Government’s ban on public gatherings by arriving at her hometown in Ihima, Okehi LGA, aboard a chopper on Tuesday afternoon.

Her arrival at 1 p.m. was met with loud cheers from a massive crowd of supporters who had gathered at her private residence as early as 7 a.m. to welcome her.

Earlier in the day, Okehi LGA chairman, Hon. Amoka Eneji, imposed a curfew in an attempt to halt the senator’s homecoming Sallah party. This move followed the state government’s broader restriction on public gatherings, citing potential security concerns.

Despite these measures, Akpoti-Uduaghan proceeded with her visit, addressing the enthusiastic supporters who defied the curfew to receive her.

Authorities in Kogi have not yet issued a response to the senator’s defiance, but her public gathering could escalate tensions between her and the state government.

At press time, the embattled senator continued engaging with the crowd, reinforcing her political influence in the region.
