Taraba Reunites Eight Trafficked Children with Parents

The Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development has reunited eight trafficked children with their parents after they were deceitfully taken to southeastern Nigeria.

Commissioner Hon. Mary Sinjen, speaking alongside the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), revealed that the children were from Minda village in Lau LGA. They were trafficked to Aba, Onitsha, and Imo under false claims that they were orphans.

Authorities intercepted the traffickers in Gembu, Sardauna LGA, during an undercover operation following investigations.

NAPTIP Taraba Commandant, Emos Gembo, disclosed that the prime suspect, identified as Patience, admitted to buying the children for amounts ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦80,000.

The ministry assured that the children have been safely returned to their families, while investigations into the trafficking ring continue.
