Three Fish Traders Killed in Taraba Attack

Hon. Clement Kav, has confirmed the killing of three fish traders from Benue State in Alufu Village, Taraba State, by suspected militias on Saturday.

Kav told journalists on Monday that the traders were lured into the area by unknown individuals under the pretense of a business transaction before being attacked.

“Five fish traders from Ukembelegywa ward in Benue received a call inviting them to buy fish in a village beyond Alufu in Taraba State. The first three traders took a particular route, while the other two followed behind,” Kav stated.

Upon arrival in Alufu, the first three traders were ambushed, tied up, and brutally slaughtered. The two remaining traders, realizing the danger, managed to escape, with one of them, Mrs. Tabitha Atoo, returning to inform the community of the killings.

Following the tragic incident, Kav said he immediately contacted Wukari LGA Chairman, Hon. Dauda Smaila, urging him to take action. Smaila advised that the matter be reported to the Alufu Police Station for further investigation.

Efforts to reach Hon. Smaila for confirmation were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls or respond to messages regarding the incident.
