President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the occasion of his 85th birthday, praising his decades of service to Nigeria.
In a statement issued Tuesday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed the monarch’s distinguished career in the judiciary and his enduring role in nation-building.
The Emir, a former Justice of the Court of Appeal, was also the pioneer Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice of old Gongola State. He began his legal career after being called to the Bar in 1968 and rose to become a High Court judge in Borno State in 1977, before his elevation to the Court of Appeal in 1983.
President Tinubu commended the royal father—who chairs the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers—for his “unwavering commitment to unity, peace, and national progress.”
The President also appreciated the Emir’s contribution to education, having served as Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikwe University and the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
“I join the Emir’s family, the Ilorin Emirate, and the people of Kwara State in celebrating this milestone,” the President said, praying for “renewed strength and good health” for the monarch.
