President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the murder of travelling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in Uromi, Edo State.
Expressing shock over the tragic incident, Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday, directed the Police and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the culprits are brought to justice.
The President commiserated with the families of the victims, assuring them that criminals would not be allowed to take innocent lives without consequences.
He also emphasized that jungle justice has no place in Nigeria, reaffirming that all citizens have the right to move freely across the country.
Tinubu commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and community leaders for their swift response in preventing further violence.
Reports indicate that 16 suspected kidnappers were attacked by a mob in Uromi after dane guns and cutlasses were discovered in their truck.
