Tinubu Hails Remo Stars’ Historic NPFL Win

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on clinching the 2024-2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title, describing the victory as a milestone that brings pride to Ikenne and Ogun State. In a statement released on Monday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the club’s dedication and spirit.

The President called the team’s success, achieved just four years after their promotion to the elite division, “a testament to the hard work, discipline, and unyielding spirit of the players, the coaching crew and the management.” He also highlighted the resilience shown by Remo Stars following three previous near-misses in their quest for the league crown.

President Tinubu commended the vision of the club’s owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname, noting that his grassroots investment—especially the building of a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne—has laid a strong foundation for football development in Nigeria.

The President urged the newly crowned champions to carry their “undaunting spirit and focus” into the CAF Champions League, where they will represent Nigeria on the continental stage. He expressed hope that their triumph would inspire other clubs across the nation to pursue excellence with tenacity and optimism.

“As Nigeria’s champions, Remo Stars have become Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League,” Tinubu said, encouraging the players to aim even higher and bring home continental honours.

President Tinubu also called on all Nigerian football fans to rally behind Remo Stars, stressing that national support is vital as the team competes in Africa’s biggest club football competition.
