Tinubu Pays Tribute to Late Namibian Leader Sam Nujoma

President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to the late founding President of Namibia, Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, hailing him as a fearless warrior who united Nigeria and other African nations in the fight for Namibia’s independence.

Nujoma, a revered African statesman who led Namibia to freedom and laid the foundation for its democracy, passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 95 after a prolonged illness.

Speaking on Saturday at Nujoma’s state burial held at Heroes’ Acre in Windhoek, President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described the late leader’s death as the beginning of his immortality in the hearts of Africans.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, Tinubu said: “Dr. Nujoma’s legacy will endure forever, not only in Namibia but across the African continent, where his unwavering commitment to liberation and unity inspired generations.”

VP Shettima, alongside other African leaders, joined Namibia’s President Nangolo Mbumba to bid farewell to the iconic freedom fighter, offering Nigeria’s final salute to a man whose life epitomised courage, resilience, and service to humanity.
