The federal government has announced that the most outstanding micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) in Nigeria will receive a grand prize package worth N220 million, including a house, a fully equipped store, and cash rewards.
This announcement came alongside the release of new selection criteria for the 2025 edition of the MSME Awards, aimed at recognizing and supporting top-performing small businesses across the country.
Apart from the overall winner, other category champions will each receive prizes valued at N50 million, including cash and property awards. The selection process, according to the organizers, will be rigorous but fair, ensuring that only the best entries make it to the top.
The 2025 contest features 10 categories where entrepreneurs can pitch their businesses. The application portal will officially open on March 7 and close on April 7, giving participants one month to submit their entries online.
Last year’s edition drew a massive response, with over 70,000 entries from across the country. Officials say they expect even higher participation in 2025, as the government doubles down on supporting small businesses to boost job creation.
The programme is part of broader efforts to reduce Nigeria’s unemployment rate by encouraging innovation and rewarding excellence in the MSME sector, which is widely seen as the backbone of the economy.
