The United States has released its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) list, notably excluding the United Kingdom and all African nations.
While the UK remains eligible under certain conditions, African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa were not included, as no nation from the continent was granted visa-free entry.
A major change in this year’s update is the inclusion of Romania, signaling a shift in US diplomatic priorities and border security policies.
The revisions also introduce stricter security measures, with the US focusing on countries that maintain strong diplomatic ties and meet specific security standards.
According to the US Bureau of Consular Affairs, the VWP permits eligible nationals to visit the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa.
The decision has sparked discussions about US travel policies, particularly regarding African nations that continue to face visa restrictions.
