By In a major boost for boxing in Africa, the President of the World Boxing Federation (WBF), Boris Van Der Vorst, will visit Nigeria from February 23 to 26, 2025.
Van Der Vorst’s visit aims to address the challenges facing boxing across the continent and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders to enhance the sport’s future in Africa.
Upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Abuja on February 23, he will be welcomed with an official ceremony. His itinerary includes visits to local boxing gyms to assess facilities and interact with athletes.
A key highlight of the visit will be a high-profile meeting with presidents of African boxing federations on February 24. This gathering is expected to drive collaboration and strategic planning for the sport’s development. The day will conclude with a formal dinner, offering an opportunity for networking and in-depth discussions among boxing officials.
