Dr. Muhammad Bello Matawalle for his commitment to youth empowerment during his tenure.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its Secretary, Abubakar Ibrahim Anka, highlighted Matawalle’s efforts in appointing over 8,000 youths to political positions, a move they say significantly contributed to their growth and development.
However, Anka expressed concerns over what he described as a decline in youth-focused initiatives under the current administration. He claimed that many young people in the state feel abandoned, with empowerment programs now only appearing in the media rather than being a reality.
Now serving as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Matawalle has been widely recognized for his role in supporting young people. Many of his former appointees credit him with providing opportunities for youth participation in governance and economic activities.
The group emphasized that youth empowerment is critical to the progress and stability of Zamfara, particularly given the security challenges in the region. They argued that investing in young people helps curb crime and promote peace.
Calling for his return to state politics, the group urged Matawalle to once again prioritize youth empowerment. “We have missed him. He did a lot for us, and we want him back,” Anka stated.
